A friend of mine (whom I had no idea ever checked out this blog) complained about my lack of updates. I agree. I’m terrible… And just to emphasise that, I’m not even going to write something even slightly thought-provoking or interesting here tonight, just continue with my random picture-posting.

This is from a trip in the Stockholm archipelago in my parents’ yacht. I may not be very skilled at it, but I have really come to love sailing and being on the water during our years in Stockholm. Pictures like this make me quite nostalgic and awakens that all too familiar longing for summer to arrive once again.

Keeping up the winter theme, this is my classmate David showing off (well, in fairness, we were all more than a little impressed at his daring skills ). A couple of us decided to ice-skating at the rink at Kongens Nytorv between lectures a few weeks back, just for the craic (and fresh air and stuff). We ended our adventure with hot chocolate back at the Uni cafeteria. Did I mention that I have the best class ever?

My grandmother recently turned 88, and I was kind of stuck for present ideas. A friend suggested this:

Considering I haven’t written a word here in more than two months, I am impressed that I had six single visitors today. That I have been more busy than ever with exams and studying and socialising is the best excuse I can conjure up, albeit it is quite a good one.

So, my life of the past few months has been largely influenced by exams and stuying. Both of the exams were pass/fail essays: one to be written over the Christmas “holidays”, the other as an intensive 5-day endeavour. Four Basic Politology our 9000-word essay discussed the Gulf War seen from Realist and Liberalist IP-perspectives and the case for humanitarian intervention vs. the sovereignity of the state. Very interesting (and yes, we passed ). Our essay in Political Philosophy looked at the thinker Barach Spinoza’s ideas on freedom of thought, compared him to Aristoteles and Rousseau, and discussed freedom of thought on macro and micro levels. Let’s just say that we were extremely relieved to pass. It’s not an essay I’d like to have to write again.

Now we’re about to start writing our final essay in Theory of Science. I can hardly contain myself till that course is over. All that work for just 5 meagre ECTS-points! Luckily, my social life has picked up to a wonderful pace, so there’s always someone to talk to just for the sake of relaxation. This Friday I held my first post-Sweden dinner party thing for a few friends. I had forgotten how much I love that kind of socialising.

So, that’s my life in short. Now all I need to do is to pick up that habit of updating again…

It’s the 13th of December today; that means it’s 11 days (or nights…) until Christmas, and that it’s time to celebrate Lucia. During all my years in Sweden, this meant getting up ridiculously early and heading off to school/some church with my long white dre, candles, red ribbons and lingonberry wreath. And then singing prettiful songs about light and Christmas nearing while trying to stand comfortable with that candle in my hand. After the concert(s) we’d continue with lussebullar and pepparkakor. Good times
